some of you may be aware there was a gas explosion followed by a large fire that engulfed two buildings and eventually caused the collapse of three buildings, with damage to a fourth, in the east village neighborhood of manhattan. i live a block from the location and have a friend currently displaced from that 4th building. now on my sofa for the foreseeable future.
there were likely lives lost (still 2 reported missing) and multiple hospitalizations, nothing to be said for the valuables and property, and unfortunately probably some pets lost in the disaster.
not much car related here... other than what looks to be a minivan crushed, and is that a 2015 c-class?

Happy to hear that both you and your friend are okay. Hope they find any people missing soon as well. I'm just glad that there weren't as many known fatalities as last year's incident in Harlem.
That car looks like an S class judging by the size of the minivan and Police cruiser near it, C class is definitely smaller than a minivan.

I don't know what it's like in NYC, but I reported a gas smell by my meter outside and there was a man from the gas company at my house in one hour or less. Luckily, the meter just needed tightening. I heard that a gas smell had been reported some days before this happened. Very sad for all involved.

now for the important questions.
1) is Pommes Frites destroyed?
2) is Paul's Burger destroyed?
I think the latter is a less likely scenario since it's at the ST Mark's Pl corner

ha... not in college for many years. (yeah yeah i know... i should grow up and move out of the east village)
pomme frites is no more. building is rubble.
pauls is still ok. but the block has had utilities off since yesterday.
